OG cloud talk
My first post in my journey into becoming a cloud security engineer/ working in cloud computing
Hi, there fellow cloud earthlings and Mum who will be reading this.
So I am very new to this thing called blogging or writing a newsletter, but I realized I really enjoy writing or putting my thoughts down so let me just give it a chance.
And besides trying new things is nice, period. Did I type that right? Leave a comment if I didn’t
So after 5 years, I think I finally know what I want to do? I know 5 years, in school and I didn’t know what I wanted. Yes, there are people like us, no need to mind shame me.
I have always known what I wanted but I never knew what job role I wanted to be in. It’s scary cause I literally came into school just knowing I liked computers and had a deep fascination for clouds. Probably why I studied Geomatics( if you are wondering what this is a combination of geography and computer science in layman's terms).
Yes, so I finally know what I want to become a cloud security engineer. I know sounds techy but it isn’t really.
Cloud security engineers identify threats to cloud systems, develop new features to meet security needs, and build, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve cloud-based systems.
So I basically make cloud safe so that you don’t get hacked.
It’s a rewarding job and the benefits mean I get to protect the world against evil guys.
So why did I chose this career because it pays so good and just to work remotely. To recruiters that might read this not the case ;)
I actually came into this cause unbeknownst to me until recently my entire internship has revolved around me keeping people safe, from password recovery, making sure people have their MFA added to their accounts, to working on SharePoint access permissions.
MFA - is that thing that happens when you want to sign in to Google and it sends you a notification on your phone to verify it’s you
Even though these are basic things they have really made me grasp a bit on securing infrastructure.
The journey to becoming a cloud security engineer is a long and scary one but it’s a path I am ready to go on.
I am writing this post not to boast about my new epistle because it could change along the way but to say that you may not fully know what you want from the jump and that is fine. You can take a step back and wait, maybe not 5 years like me but do what you enjoy or love or find what you enjoy or love along the way.
And dream big, lol that's so corny. Just take time out and think about the future you want, be kind to yourself and be honest with yourself.
Thank you for reading my first-ever blog post to the very end.
And now my cloud security journey starts with my first professional exam CompTIA Security+.
Don’t forget to leave a comment and subscribe.
Great one OG,
do not despise the days of humble beginnings. It will surely get better as time goes on.
Remember that prayerful preparation produces perfect presentation.
Now that you know what you want to do, let me encourage you with these words from a Pastor,
"Though you may PERSPIRE
Do not RETIRE
But constantly REFIRE
Until you ACQUIRE
That which you DESIRE"
.... waiting for your next post...
This is really good. I can relate to the whole idea of not knowing what you want to do just yet. Congrats on your first blog post xx
